July opening of Chelsea Piers CT offers array of summer camps, 60,000 square foot field house, twin-rinks too

Chelsea Piers Connecticut (CPCT) has announced its summer camps, in more than 10 sports, ranging from half-day programs for preschool-aged children, to full-day developmental and elite level camps, now only months away.

Chelsea Piers Connecticut is a 400,000-sq-ft state-of-the-art sports and recreation facility located in Stamford, just off I-95 at Exit 9. Slated to open in July 2012, Chelsea Piers Connecticut will consist of seven core sports facilities encompassing more than 18 sports.

Camps

Camp programs will be offered all summer, beginning July 9. Young athletes may sign up for one, two or more weeks of camp for maximum flexibility.

Chelsea Pier Connecticut summer camps will include some of the best coaching in the world under one roof including U.S. soccer legend Kristine Lilly, hockey phenomenon Angela Ruggiero, squash great Natalie Grainger and more.

Campers may participate in sport-specific camps, dual-sport camps or multi-sport camps.

There will be three general categories of camps offered: recreational camp programs for preschool and beginner athletes, sport-specific developmental and elite camps for elementary and middle school athletes and sport-specific training programs for elite high school, prep school, and college athletes.

Preschool camps include half-day ice skating, half-day gymnastics and a longer Multi-Sports Academy for 4 – 5 year olds.

Campers starting at age five may specialize in a full-day sport-specific camp or choose one of the multi-sport camps or dual-sport camps. Eight to 13-year-old dual-sport athletes can sign up for one of CPCT's unique combo camps.

There will also be Elite training opportunities for high school and prep school athletes.

In addition to receiving top-notch instruction in campers’ core sports, athletes will have the unique opportunity to enjoy the other facilities throughout the air-conditioned complex during a daily recreational period.

Recreational period activities vary from camp to camp and by age group and will include time in the indoor Splash Zone water park and Aquatics Center, visits to the Jump Zone Trampoline Center, trips to the Ice Rinks, Tennis Club and 60,000 square foot Field House building. Where age and skill appropriate, athletes will benefit from sports-specific training and fitness in a 7,000 square-foot state-of-the-art sports training center.

A healthy lunch and snack will be provided by Chelsea Piers to all full-day campers. After care options will also be available for parents who need an extended camp day.

“We are really excited to welcome our first campers in July,” commented Mollie Marcoux, Executive Director, Chelsea Piers Connecticut. “Camp is a cornerstone of our business in New York, as we have the ideal facility and staff to provide a truly unique full-day camp experience.
