Woodring burning up the court with Choate

Boys Basketball

Casey Woodring, from Darien, is continuing his standout contributions to the Choate School boys basketball team this season.

Joining three teammates in double figures, Woodring scored 16 points, slotting three 3-pointers through the ring in a 90-79 win over Christian Heritage at Wallingford recently.

Plus he had six assists.

The hot outside-shooting Choate offense, that still whips the ball around to share the wealth, climbs to 16-2, leading the New England Prep School-Class A League for much of the season.

Choate is tied with Salisbury for first place and plays there today, having won six straight.

Prior to that Woodring, a senior, scored 23 points in Choate’s 77-41 win over Avon Old Farms.

He hit five three’s and had seven assists in another road victory.

In two seasons for Choate — he played at Notre Dame-Fairfield freshman and sophomore years — Woodring’s taken part in, and been a big part of, Choate’s 2011 championship and, so far, 35-5 run.
