Gulick on top as temps sink below

Despite subzero temperatures a brave crew of Northern Vermont Council ski racers, including Chase Gulick of Darien, headed off to the opening competition at Burke Mountain in East Burke, Vermont on Jan. 22.

The J6's and J5's, ages seven to 10-years old, competed in their first giant slalom race of the season. The Northern Vermont Council Racers from Burke, Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS), Jay Peak and Mad River Glen Ski Clubs were well represented in both age categories with over 130 kids participating.

With some fast times, a few local J6 and J5 boys and girls finished their runs in under one minute with strong finishes among the entire field of competitors.

The J6 boys took to the course with blistering times and a handful of GMVS racers in the top 10 with a cluster finishing close behind in a field of 32 racers.
