Buch helps Southern Owls win record 43rd at College World Series

Nicole Buch (DHS 2011) is swinging the bat her freshman season with the Southern Connecticut State University Owls at the College World Series in Louisville, Kentucky.

The starting shortstop had two putouts in the Owls’ 3-2 win over St. Joseph in the tournament opener on Wednesday.

It was Southern’s 43rd win of the year, setting a new high mark in victories in one season for the team.

The Owls improve to 43-11 and play Central Oklahoma 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Bush is hitting .280 in 164 at bats, has scored 48 times, has 46 hits, six doubles, four triples, a homer and has batted in 15 runs.

Ann still can: Fucigna fires 51 goals, 74 points, both records at Davidson

Womens Lacrosse

Ann Fucigna — all 5-foot, three-inches of her — finished up with 51 goals, 74 points for Davidson womens lacrosse, making her the Wildcats’ all-time leader in both categories in just her second season on the field.

Callie Frelinghuysen is an All-Liberty League First Team lacrosse player once more, it’s official.

The senior captain Frelinghuysen (DHS Class of 2008) is one of seven members of the William Smith womens lacrosse team honored by the Liberty League as voted on by the league’s coaches recently.
