Obituary: Lawrence W. Magnuson WWII veteran, volunteer firefighter

Lawrence W. Magnuson, a life long resident of Darien and Stamford, died on Sunday, Dec. 4. He was 87.

Born April 12, 1924 in Stamford, he was the son of the late Kathryn Walsh and Adrian Magnuson. Mr. Magnuson served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II with the 14th Air Force in China. He worked as a certified dental technician for William A. Hillis, DDS for 31 years and Robert S. Dustin, DDS for 11 years both in Greenwich. He was a parishioner of St. John Roman Catholic Church, a charter member of the Metropolitan Dental Study Group of New York and a member of Noroton Fire Department since 1942.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Jeanne Magnuson of Darien and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Liberty Heinbaugh; and two brothers, Edmond J. Magnuson and Adrian Magnuson.

The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd., Darien on Thursday, Dec. 8 from 5 to 7. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Friday, Dec. 9 at 10. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
