Obituary: Mildred Madeleine Acton Thomas, 88, longtime Darien resident

Mildred Madeleine Acton Thomas, a longtime Darien resident, died Monday, Nov. 28, at Carolton Convalescent Home in Fairfield. She was 88.

Born on June 9, 1923, in Darien, she was the daughter of the late Ethel Gartrell and Howard Acton.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her daughter, Gail Thomas Ficken and her husband Barry E. Ficken of Westport; a sister, Evelyn Acton Kuban of Brookfield; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Zolton Thomas; two brothers, Howard Acton, Jr. of Darien and Gerald E. Acton of Fairfield.

A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Chapel, 1864 Post Road, Darien on Friday, Dec. 2, at 5. A private family burial will be held at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford.
