Greenwich nanny arrested for stealing flatware in Darien

BLANCA PINEDAA Greenwich woman faces larceny charges after telling police that she took $500 worth of stainless steel flatware from a Fitch Avenue home on Wednesday, Feb. 15.

Blanca Pineda, 59, was working as a nanny at the home when the incident occurred, police said. The homeowner came home and found a brown paper bag in the front yard containing the flatware. He then took the bag of flatware to the side of the house to show his wife the items when she came home. When he went inside, Pineda "abruptly left the premises," said Darien Police Capt. Fred Komm.

The homeowner went back outside and saw the bag was missing. Police said they were unable to contact Pineda, but she later returned to the home and gave the items back, admitting she had stolen them, according to police.

Pineda was arrested and charged with sixth degree larceny. She was released on a promise to appear in court on Monday, Feb. 27.
