Coop fire kills three Darien chickens

An early-morning fire at a chicken coop on Saddle Ridge Road ended with three chickens losing their lives on Thursday, Feb. 9.

Darien Police said that the fire might have started from a heat lamp that ignited wood shavings on the coop floor. Noroton Heights fire department responded, but not before the coop was totally destroyed by the flames.

There were no surviving chickens.
