New Canaan man suffers serious head injury after jumping from moving vehicle on Hoyt Street

A 23-year-old New Canaan resident suffered a serious head injury after jumping from a moving vehicle on Hoyt Street Friday afternoon.

The Darien Police report that at approximately 3:47 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, officers responded to the area of Hoyt Street and Heather Lane on a report of a motor vehicle accident.

The investigation revealed that a 23-year-old man jumped from the passenger side door of a 2008 Mazda while traveling south on Hoyt Street. The man's family member was driving at the time and they were the only occupants.

There was no damage to the vehicle itself or any other property.

The New Canaan resident was taken Stamford Hospital by Darien EMS for treatment of a significant head injury. Investigators have not been able to interview the man due to the extent of his injuries.

The incident remains under active investigation by members of the Darien Police Department.
