Police still investigating Darien gas station robbery

Three armed men, one displaying a handgun, attempted to rob the Darien Exxon station, 1358 Post Road Monday night, according to Darien Police Department.

The police responded to the report of an armed robbery at about 9 p.m.

The male employee working at the station reported that three masked men had entered the station with at least one displaying a handgun. A customer was also inside the station at the time of the robbery.

A struggle ensued between the three robbers, the attendant and the customer, with both the attendant and the customer sustaining minor injuries.

An undetermined amount of money was taken from the customer. No vehicle was seen at the time of the incident. A K-9 unit from the Stamford Police Department responded and tracked to a nearby parking lot, where the scent was lost.

As of Wednesday morning, Darien Police Captain Fred Komm told the Darien Times there were no updates to the investigation.

The Darien Police Department is asking anyone that may have witnessed the incident to call the Darien Police Detective Bureau at 203-662-5330.
