Study skills course returns to Middlesex in March

Organized? Prepared? Confident? Are these words that describe your student? Notetaking? Prioritizing? Self-advocating? Does your student practice these skills? If you answered no to any of these questions, then perhaps your student could benefit from the tools, systems and strategies needed to answer yes.

Successful Study Skills 4 Students will hold a five-session workshop for middle school students starting Tuesday, March 6, from 5-6:30, for five 90-minute sessions. Past workshops at Middlesex have been completely full.

This series is particularly designed to integrate and weave student's own curriculum and course material throughout the program so that student can experience and apply each skill/tool taught to their school work.

"Study skills are the critical and necessary foundation for academic success," Michelle Sagalyn, president of S4, said. "We are pleased to once again offer the S4 workshops at Middlesex this spring so that area middle school students can take advantage of these important tools before the end of the year."

The S4 program is founded on educational research and evidenced-based studies, and taught by accredited, passionate and engaging teachers. In a highly participatory and dynamic in presentation, students will learn ten essential, logical, and easy-to-implement skills, essential for successful learning and studying.

The fee is $395. To register, go to: /tinyurl.com/Winter-2012-MMS. S4 supplies all materials, including a take-home folder including an entire outline of the workshop and other material for ongoing student and parental support.
