The Darien Nature Center has opened its online and walk-in registration for summer programs. This year's offerings, which will run from June 25-Aug. 3, include Summer Time for 2's, Our Living Planet, Planet Patrol and Science Trek.

A full program description can be found on the Nature Center website, DarienNatureCenter.org.

Summer Time for 2's is a six-week drop-off nature enrichment program that provides a child's first introduction to the wonders of the natural world. The program is offered twice a day, from 9:15-10:45 or 11-12:30. A child may be signed up for one session, one day per week only for six weeks. Visits with the animals, daily walks on the trail and stories and crafts will keep little minds, feet and hands busy and happy.

Our Living Planet, a program for children 3-5, runs for six weeks, from 9-1. Children may be signed up by the week, from one to six weeks.

This year the children will take a virtual tour around the world. The geography, climate and wildlife of Tibet, Africa, the rain forest, the desert, the Alaskan Tundra and Australia will be the themes over the course of the six weeks.

Planet Patrol, for active 6-8 year olds, runs from 8:45-12:45 each day. Children may be signed up by the week. The six weekly themes for Planet Patrol are: Project Base Camp; Trail Blazers; Roughing It; High Energy; Wild about Water and Into the Wild.

Science Trek, for 8-11 year olds, runs for three weeks from 8:45-12:45 daily. Children may be registered by the week. Led by Middlesex Middle School teacher Peter Martin, Science Trek is a science program that's outdoors, hands-on and fun! The first session, entitled Blast Off, will feature rocketry. The campers will build and blast off rockets and conduct science experiments that make things go pop. Second is Sound Quest, followed by Off to the Races.

Complete details on all the Nature Center has to offer this summer and the rest of the year is at DarienNatureCenter.org.
