Darien Library screens ‘Brain Fitness’ documentary

The Library is hosting a screening of the PBS documentary "The Brain Fitness Program" on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 1:30, as part of the Winter Wellness series.

The film offers viewers a look at different exercises that can help increase brain fitness and retain mental acuity. The 60-minute documentary is based on the research of Dr. Michael Merzenich and more than 50 neuroscientists around the world, who designed a scientifically based system of exercises designed to drive beneficial chemical, physical and functional changes in the brain.

The fitness program strengthens the brain in a variety of ways, including agility, speed and comprehension; studies have shown an average improvement of more than 10 years in auditory, memory and cognitive function after using the Brain Fitness Program.

The event is part of the Library's Winter Wellness health series, which provides patrons with a variety of lectures, expert panels, workshops, film screening and fitness exercises designed to help get healthy, organized and active.
