Former ambassador speaks in next DCA Arab series lecture

The third speaker of this year's DCA lecture series, After the Arab Spring, What Next?, is Ambassador Richard Murphy, former Ambassador to Mauritania and Syria.

Murphy's talk, "Saudi Arabia: the Arab Spring Passes By," begins on Thursday morning, Jan. 19, at 10, presented by the committee of the Darien Community Association Academic Lecture Series on Global Issues Committee.

A U.S. diplomat since 1955, Murphy has served in the U.S. Foreign Service in Rhodesia, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia. He has also served as the U.S. assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern and South Asian Affairs and as director of the Middle East Roundtable at the Council on Foreign Relations.
