Find out about fat at the Darien Library

Darien-LibraryDarien Library will host a screening of the PBS documentary, "Fat: What No One Is Telling You," on Monday, Jan. 16, at 1:30, as part of the Winter Wellness Series.

The 90-minute documentary examines the culture in America, were roughly two in three adults are either overweight or obese, yet being overweight is overwhelmingly viewed as a character flaw or weakness. The Emmy-Award winning producers Naomi Boak and Tom Spain share scientific findings about hunger, eating an human metabolism while also explaining human being's psychological responses to food and the external pressures that can make overcoming obesity so hard.

Throughout the documentary, viewers will get to know several Americans who are battling obesity, and their efforts to win the fight.

The screening is part of the Library's "Winter Wellness" health and wellness series, which will provide patrons with a variety of lectures, expert panels, workshops, film screening and fitness exercises designed to help get healthy, organized and active.
