Darien Library seeks playwrights

The Catherine Lindsey Actors/Playwrights Workshop will present a series of workshops at the Darien Library to offer budding playwrights the opportunity to fine tune their work and read in front of an audience.

Interested playwrights should email 10 pages of their scripts to Robert Cusack via at robert.cusack1@att.net by Wednesday, Feb. 1. Playwrights will then workshop their plays during three evening sessions: Thursday, Feb. 16, 7-9 p.m.; Thursday, March 15, 7-9 p.m.; and Thursday, April 12, from 7-9 p.m. During these workshops, writers will refine their scripts, which will then be submitted to the Darien Library Selection Committee.

When writing their pieces, playwrights should keep in mind that there will be a limited number of actors for the performances. Submissions should run 10 minutes or less.

Selections will then be performed on Sunday, June 10, at 2, in the library's community room. The performances are open to Actors' Equity actors and non-Equity actors alike, and will bring together local and regional playwrights and actors. Actors and playwrights of all experience level are invited to participate.

The Catherine Lindsey Actors/Playwrights Workshop was founded 20 years ago by the late Catherine Lindsey and her husband Robert. In the time since, the workshops have served to develop original plays in a workshop environment with the goal of public, staged readings.
