About election letters

There are just five more editions before the Nov. 6 election.

The following policies are in effect:

Letters to the editors: Letters touting a candidate or group of candidates must be 150 words or fewer. Longer letters will be rejected. Letters on general election issues may be as long as the usual letter limit of 350 words but may not be cloaked with endorsements.

No letter negatively critical of candidates will be published in the Nov. 1 edition, the last before Election Day.

Political statements: Candidates, political parties or groups may have up to five statements published between the Oct. 4 and the Oct. 25 editions.

All statements are limited to 500 words. Statements will be treated as press releases. E-mail editor@darientimes.com. Statements must reach our office by 9 a.m. the Monday before planned publication. Letters are due by 5 p.m. on Mondays.
