BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

This team likes the view of the open road out in front of it.

The No. 4 ranked-in-the-state Darien boys’ cross country team climbed to 10-0 with wins over Wilton 20-43, Westhill 15-50 and St. Joe’s 15-50 at Allen’s Meadow in Wilton on Tuesday.

Darien took spots two through eight in the 3.1 mile race.

Finishing second overall for Darien was Alex Ostberg in 17:43.

Said Darien coach Tyson Kaczmarek: “We took care of business today. The hard part of our season starts next week. We face a lot of very good teams over the next month.

“We have to be ready to step up and face the better competition.”

Ostberg was followed closely by Marshall Huffman (17:44), Ben Olsen (17:44), Colten Appleby (17:45), Brian Davey (17:45), Peter Kreuch (17:45) and Jack Sparkman (18:10) for the Wave.
