SHE’S THE ONE — Ann Johnston ran the second fastest time in course history at Wilton Tuesday.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Darien girls cross country had a historic afternoon.

The Wave beat Wilton for the first time since 1988, and on the Warriors’ trail at that on Tuesday.

Darien got by Wilton 20-35, plus beat St. Joseph and Westhill 15-50 at the meet.

Wave standout Ann Johnston won in 15:08.

“Keys were Ellen Bauer and Katie Farren running the best races of their careers, and managing to out-kick Wilton’s second runner,” Darien coach Steve Norris said. “Also key was Elisabeth Lowe out-kicking Wilton’s third runner.”

Johnston made yet more track course history.

“Anne Johnston beat previously undefeated Claire Howlett of Westhill, running the second fastest time in the history of the Wilton course.”

Johnston tied the course record at Ludlowe last time out.

Bauer was fifth in 16:21, Sarah Colon sixth in 16:22, Farren seventh in 16:30, Lowe ninth in 16:40, Sophie Long 13th in 17:15, Grace Loh 14th in 17:23, Claire Walker 17th in 17:38 and Alex Ford Lindsey 20th in 18:03.
