State transportation workers will begin blasting rocks alongside of I-95 in Norwalk on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation will begin blasting along the shoulders of I-95 between exits 14 and 15. The construction is due to an on-going effort to expand I-95, the department said.

Traffic will be stopped between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to remove rock in area of construction. It’s unclear for how long the blasting will take place.

The blasting and rock removal will take place along both the northbound and southbound sides of I-95 between Taylor Avenue and Route 7. Traffic in both directions will be halted for 5 to 10 minute intervals two or three times between 10 and 1.

Slow moving roadblocks will be used to facilitate traffic and motorists can expect significant delays in the area.
