New stop signs installed in town, Darien Police advise caution

On Tuesday, two new stop signs were installed on Leroy Ave. at Sedgwick Ave, making this intersection a four way (all way) stop controlled intersection. Up until today, traffic on Leroy Ave. was not required to stop.

In addition to the stop signs and stop bars themselves, permanent advance warning “stop ahead” signs and painted roadway markings will be installed in both directions on Leroy Avenue. Additional, temporary “New stop sign ahead” signs will also be placed in the area to provide motorists as much advance warning as possible as they get familiar with this new configuration.

The Darien Police Department asks that all motorists operating in this area use additional care in the near future as we all get acclimated to having these new stop signs in place.
