This October marks the 5th year that Helen Ainson has hosted a breast cancer fundraiser. On Thursday evening, Oct. 4, because Rickie Freeman, the world renowned designer for Teri Jon will be making a rare personal appearance at the store.
For a $20 donation at the door, attendees will have a chance to rub elbows with the celebrated designer, who has dressed the likes of Meryl Streep, Jennifer Hudson, Oprah and Darien’s own, Chloe Sevigny.
Freeman came to the U.S. to study fashion design as a teenager and went on to start the Teri Jon label in 1984. She has since built the business to become one of America’s small business success stories — even being featured on CNN as such.
In addition to meeting the designer, a $20 donation buys a raffle ticket for a chance to win a choice of a Teri Jon cocktail dress.
The event will be Thursday, Oct. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. and will give Darienites a chance to enjoy some drinks and hors d’oeuvres, mingle with the fashionable folks at Helen Ainson, and maybe win a new outfit.
Proceeds will go to benefit Norwalk Hospital’s Smilow Family Breast Health Center.
