Ben Highton and Spencer McMullin made it two goals in as many games for the Blue Wave.
And Jack Fisher, with eight saves, had his first shutout in goal, as Darien beat visiting Warde 2-0 on Thursday.
“A good win during a tough stretch of three games in four days,” said Darien coach Jon Bradley of what was game two of the string with the Wave next playing Brien McMahon on Saturday. “We played well.”
The Wave climbs to 2-1 while the Mustangs drop to 2-2.
Darien scored both goals in the first half.
Brennan Branca had an assist for DHS.
The Wave put 11 shots on goal.
“The defense kept a clean sheet, and we scored a couple of very nice goals,” Bradley said.
Like Highton’s.
“Ben’s was an excellent volley on an assist from Branca,” said Bradley. “And then Ben played a great ball up to Spencer, who on a breakaway, went around the goalie and finished it off.”
