Wave takes opener with wins across the board

Wave girls swim-dive had a dominating win right off the mark of the new season.

Darien (1-0) defeated Fairfield Ludlowe 101-75 at Fairfield U on Wednesday.

Winning the 200 medley relay Caroline Orem, Olivia Leunis, Maddie Burke and Francesca Milewski in 2:11.80; Julia Stobbie the 200 free in 2:17.86, Courtney Ferreira the 200 IM in 2:34.23, Emily Nixon the 50 free in 29.43, Caroline Ashcraft dving with a score of 202.10, Caroline Orem the 100 free in 1:01.29, Amanda Bieler the 500 free in 4:42.75, Leunis, Milewski, Caroline Orem, Nixon the 200 free relay in 1:57.83, Claire Treesh the 100 back in 1:12.12, Megan Slaughter the 100 breaststroke in 1:21.64, Bieler, Stobbie, Nixon, Milewski the 400 free relay in 4:20.22.

Leading 101-37, Darien swam the last several events in exhibition.

Other good results for the Wave included Becca Maroney, Maggie Orem, Ferreira, Bieler second in the 200 medley relay, Sam Schrenker third in the 200 free, Lauren Rutledge second in the 50 free, Kyla Pech second in diving, Burke and Leunis tied for second in the 100 fly, Milewski second in the 100 free, Kearney second in the 100 free,  Rutledge, Burke, Jessica Chen, Julia Stobbie second in the 200 free relay, Maroney second in the 100 back, Ferreira second in the 100 breast stroke, Ferreira, Caroline Orem, Leunis, Rutledge second in the 400 free.
