Anne Johnston broke the track record at Ridgefield on Tuesday.

The Wave girls cross country team sophomore clocked in at 19:21.

The hosts won the race 22-38 over Darien, while Darien beat Ward 14-35 and Stamford 15-45 to go 2-1 on the new season.

Sarah Colon was seventh for DHS in 20:53, Ellen Bauer 11th in 21:41, Katie Farren 13th in 22:04, Sophie Long 14th in 23:05, Claire Walker 15th in 23:13.

Johnston broke the course record of 20:16 set last year by Ridgefield’s Sarah Guillaume.

“She broke away from Warde track star Cate Allen half way through the race,” said Darien coach Steve Norris.

Darien was without senior standout Grace Loh and sophomore Elisabeth Lowe, both nursing minor injuries.
