The Town of Darien firefighters’ foundation is holding its third Lobster for Ladders fundraising event at Weed Beach on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 6.
The event is casual dress and includes cocktails, raw bar, lobsters and a silent auction under the stars with a Long Island Sound view. Live music will be provided by Jay Prince and his R&B band.
A flag in honor of the fallen of Sept. 11 will be retired by a fire department color guard.
This year’s silent auction contains fun items including a day of fly fishing, a boat cruise, golf packages, a fully catered dinner party, a three-night getaway to New Castle, N.H. overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and more.
This year guests will have an additional incentive to bid on auction items as the proceeds raised during this event go toward each of Darien’s three 100% volunteer fire companies: Noroton Fire Department, Noroton Heights Fire Department and Darien Fire Department.
These three departments respond to approximately 1,000 calls per year. Darien’s fire departments work hard to augment their town budgets through their own fund raising efforts, such as Christmas tree sales, boat raffles and direct mail campaigns. This event, along with Darien’s Fourth of July fireworks help raise funds on behalf of Darien’s finest volunteers, our firefighters.
Current corporate sponsors of Lobster for Ladders include: Sperry Tent, Baywater Properties, Fairway Market and Grove Street Plaza L.L.C., as well as several private donations. The Town of Darien Firefighters Foundation is a non-profit organization and was formed in January of 2007 as a civilian run organization. The foundation also raises funds to support the overall first responder capability in the town of Darien and its mutual aid jurisdictions. The foundation is committed to support and enhance the standards of safety in the Darien community.
Funds raised by the foundation may be used to purchase equipment, pay for training, purchase or improve property that is solely used in a first responder capacity or to promote activities of the foundation or the first responders.
