HOCKEY

This Saturday Blue Wave boys hockey is going to do to automobiles, what the boys intend to do to the league, this winter.

Clean up.

The Blue Wave boys hockey team’s annual car wash is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Darien Ice Rink, where, as always, shining up your ride equals shoring up support for the team.

Coach Chris Gerwig and his staff met with the captains, Trent Bergin, Dana Wensberg and Brendan Hathaway, recently, to set key goals for the upcoming season.

“It was a unanimous decision,” said Gerwig, in his second year at the helm. “The number one goal of the team this year is to get back into the FCIAC Championship game and win.”

The Wave fell, just, to Ridgefield last season in the league final.

“Last year, we got a taste of victory in the final game against Ridgefield and came up just a little short,” he added. “So this year, we are going to work hard to change that.

“We are excited for a great season.”
