UPDATE Thursday 10:48 a.m. — The other suspect in a stolen car chase that ended in a minor accident and foot chase in Darien Tuesday night has still not been located, according to Stamford Police. The department posted an account of the incidents leading up to the search in Darien Tuesday night on Facebook.
A pizza delivery driver reported his 1999 Honda Civic was stolen from Henry Street in Stamford after leaving the keys in the vehicle while making a pizza delivery. Multiple patrol units responded into the area to search for the vehicle. Within minutes, Officer Richard Dabrowski saw the stolen vehicle on I-95 northbound and attempted to pull the vehicle over. The vehicle did not stop and Stamford units pursued the vehicle on I-95 and into Darien as it exited the highway at exit 11. Shortly after exiting the highway, Stamford PD called off the chase.
While driving back to Stamford, Officer Anna Futyma saw an accident in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts, 967 Post Rd, Darien, and noticed that one of the car’s in the crash was the stolen vehicle.
A witness reported that the suspects ran from the car after striking the parked and unoccupied vehicle and ran to the train station platform and across the tracks.Stamford, Darien, Connecticut State Police, and MTA police units set up a perimeter on the area and a track was conducted by a SPD K-9.
One suspect was located Tuesday night and is in custody. Stamford Police reported the suspect is a juvenile so their identification is not being publicized.
8:15 p.m. One suspect is in custody, other suspects are still being pursued on foot after a stolen car from Stamford was involved in a minor accident in Darien’s Dunkin Donuts on the Post Road. Stamford Police pursued the stolen car, which got off exit 11 northbound on I95 to the Post Road in Darien.
Sgt. Jeremiah Marron of the Darien Police Department said Stamford Police with Darien Police assisting pursued the suspects on foot after they fled the scene after an accident at the donut shop.
Stamford Police, using canines, tracked one suspect to the corner of Post Road and Mansfield Avenue, seen above. There are a number of officers still in the area trying to locate additional suspects who are not believed to be dangerous. Darien Police encourage anyone seeing anything unusual to dial 911.
7:50 p.m. Darien police are pursuing suspects who stole a car out of Stamford and got off exit 11 in Darien after a pursuit.
According to Darien police, the suspects fled on foot. Metro North is also reporting running on a 25 minute delay due to police activity in Darien.
Police said they don’t believe there is any immediate danger from the suspects.
