Letter: Thank you, Josh

State Rep. Terrie Wood thanks editor Joshua Fisher for his years at The Darien Times.

To the Editor:

The front page of The Darien Times last week announced that editor Josh Fisher is moving on to become editor of the New Canaan Advertiser. This week is his last editing The Darien Times.

Josh has served as editor of The Darien Times for the past seven years. I have gotten to know him well in my service to the community from both the non-profit side and now serving as state representative. He has been accessible, hard working and his approach fair and non-partisan. I have appreciated his genuine enthusiasm for learning the issues and his dedication to reporting them fairly. He balances all of this with a good sense of humor and perspective.

Editing a local paper has its challenges — not only in reporting the news of the many issues of the community, but also in rendering an opinion on one of the often hot button issues in the week’s editorial. Josh has done an exemplary job of learning all sides of an issue and fairly giving his opinion despite some differing points of view. He is unafraid to call it as he sees it. Commendable.

Our community has been lucky to have Josh leading the effort to keep our town well informed. Wishing him well and continued success in New Canaan at the Advertiser. Thank you Josh!

Terrie Wood

The writer, a Republican, is the state representative for Darien and Rowayton.
