Three bikes stolen in Darien over two days

Darien Police responded to three reports of stolen bicycles last week, including two from the Darien train station on Tuesday, July 24.

One bike, a maroon and silver Gary Fisher hybrid mountain bike, was parked on the eastbound side at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, and secured using a chain combination lock, police said. When the owner came back five days later, the $500 bike was missing and the lock was gone.

Another bike was reported stolen from the westbound lot. The black and yellow Giant mountain bike was secured to a sign post at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, and discovered stolen at 6:30 that evening. It was valued at $750.

The next day, police responded to another bike theft, this time at a Post Road building. The $1,500 black Trek mountain bike was left unsecured next to storage shed at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and was gone when the owner returned an hour later. Police said the owner didn’t lock the bike because he believed it to be out of public view.
