There is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The warning extends through all of Fairfield County and includes a flash flood warning until 6 p.m. The weather service is tracking a line of thunderstorms that have the potential to produce rainfall as heavy as two inches per hour.
Residents living along streams or flood-prone areas are advised to take precautions. Do not attempt to cross swiftly flowing streams or flooded roads in cars or on foot.
A flood advisory is in effect until 3:45 p.m. for Fairfield County, according to the weather service.
A thunderstorm is moving eastward into southwest Connecticut. Other showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop as well over Westchester County, according to the weather service.
