The following letter was sent to Patricia Squires, executive editor, of the Stamford Emergency Medical Services. It is reprinted here at the writer’s request.
To Ms. Squires:
The Darien Emergency Medical Services Review Committee reported to the Darien Board of Selectmen on April 23. In its report, the Committee detailed paramedic response times. I assume you have read this report. In a letter to The Darien Times on May 17, I outlined what I consider to be serious questions with regard to the committee’s data.
Simply put, I do not see how the committee’s data can be correct. If the data are incorrect, this can be due to ineptitude or deliberate misstatement. I believe it is important that SEMS verify the accuracy of the data presented by the committee and answer my objections to the data and the conclusions reached by the committee. The accuracy of these data is a matter of life and death to Darien residents.
