To the Editor:
Genovese and Glassmeyer demonstrate a thoughtful and balanced approach to the redevelopment of our downtown. Their plan includes massive private investment on underground parking, new streets, open spaces, and refined architecture. The fact they hired Robert A.M. Stern, architect of welcoming and updated classic buildings, is remarkable. Rather than piecemeal development, this promises a master plan and multipurpose structures that work together. Housing near the train is a major plus for empty nesters, and the mix of local and national stores is a welcome boost for entrepreneurs. These local developers earned their credibility in town, and now reinforce it by their timeless design. It’s rare to see such an elegant approach with so many benefits to our town.
