DCA Thrift Shop window celebrates Darien’s Olympian

Darien Crane DCA Thrift Shop window olympics

Brenda Crane poses in front of the DCA Thrift Shop window she decorated in honor of her son, Rob, who’s competing in the summer Olympics.

What does the Darien Community Association Thrift Shop have to do with the London Olympics? Quite a bit, if you’re Brenda Crane, one of the thrift shop’s volunteers. Her son Rob Crane, who first learned to sail at the Noroton Yacht Club, is now competing in the men’s laser event of the 2012 London Olympics. Thrift shop volunteers have now decorated the shop window in Crane’s honor.

The DCA provides a broad array of educational, cultural, and social programs in an historic setting and enriches the community through philanthropy and outreach. To volunteer at the DCA Thrift Shop, contact manager Carol Smith at 203-655-4552. Shop hours are 10-4, Tuesday-Saturday.
