Fourteen-year-old Becca Maroney broke a 38-year-old Middlesex Club pool Girls 14-and-under 50-meter backstroke record recently.
Maroney won the race in 33.59 seconds, sinking the almost 40-summer-buoyancy of Gina Layton’s 34-second swim of 1974.
