The 33rd Annual Darien Road Race will be held on Sunday, Sept. 16.
The race route, which stretches along scenic waterfront roads, includes a 10-kilometer race (6.2 miles) and a 1.5 mile fun run called the Loop. Both events, which start at 1, will start and finish at Pear Tree Point Beach in Darien.
The Darien Road Race has raised more than $900,000 in its three decades of history. This year the race again benefits The Community Fund of Darien and two local cancer research and service organizations, the Bennett Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital and The Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital.
This fun family event also includes the Finish Line under the big tent, provided by the Darien Boat Club. The Finish Line features booths with small games and prizes for children, entertainment, food and pre- and post race ceremonies.
