To the Editor:
My husband and I graduated from DHS in 1966. Two years ahead of us in the Class of 1964 were another pair of high school sweethearts, Chris and Betsi Shays. At DHS, they were, as they are now, respected, productive and enthusiastic contributors.
Chris has served 21 years in the U.S. Congress representing our Fourth District. He is now running in the Republican Senatorial Primary on Aug. 14. Chris is a person of integrity and honesty, a strong fiscal conservative, who fought hard for accountability and reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac when that reform could have saved us from the housing crisis. He has excellent ideas for tax reform and balancing the budget.
Unlike his primary opponent Linda McMahon, Chris knows how our federal government works and doesn’t work. He is in a position to start working immediately to help America move forward. He is the candidate who can defeat the Democrat challenger and bring a Republican Senate seat to Connecticut for the first time in 30 years!
Chris has been supported by people of all political philosophies since he started knocking on doors in Stamford during his first campaign. His principled, honest, hardworking approach has attracted voters from both major parties.
Registered Republicans are eligible to vote in the Republican Primary and independents and unaffiliated voters may register temporarily as Republicans up until the day before the Primary, in order to vote on Aug. 14.
If you will be out of town that day, please pick up an absentee ballot application at the Town Hall or download the form from the Connecticut Secretary of State’s website, sots.ct.gov.
After your application is submitted, you will be mailed the actual absentee ballot in August, so apply now if you need an absentee ballot!

Please vote for Chris Shays for U.S. Senate on Tuesday, Aug. 14.
