Haircuts raise more than $15,000 for volunteer firefighters

It was a hairy moment for developer David Genovese and lawyer Glen Moore as they took to the barber’s chair to lop off their locks to support the Town of Darien Firefighter Foundation on Thursday. The men decided to step up to the plate and help the department, which didn’t raise as much money as expected from this year’s fireworks, said Dan Anderson, chairman of the department’s board of trustees. They raised more than $15,000 by taking their hair to its shortest, while still comfortable, point.

The Firefighter Foundation supports Darien’s three volunteer fire departments. Darien is one of the few towns in southern Connecticut that does not have a paid fire department.
