The YWCA Darien/Norwalk’s Newcomers Club is holding events for new Darien residents in July and August.
On Tuesday, July 24, the Newcomers Club will host a Fashion Coffee with personalized style tips from local fashion designer and stylist Ruth Stiefel, from 9-11, at a Newcomer member’s home (details provided upon RSVP).
On Tuesday, Aug. 28, the Newcomers Club will host a ladies night dinner at Estia’s American at 7:30, which will be a prix fixe event and include the restaurant’s fresh American cuisine with a Mexican twist and beverages.

Current YWCA Newcomers Club members are required to RSVP on the YWCA Darien/Norwalk website for these events at ywcadariennorwalk.org. New Darien residents who are interested in attending these events are requested to purchase Newcomers Club membership at the YWCA Darien/Norwalk for the 2012-13 membership year by visiting ywcadariennorwalk.org or by stopping by the YWCA Darien/Norwalk office at 49 Old Kings Highway North (next to the Darien Ice Rink).
The YW’s Newcomers Club is designed to help women who are new to the community to quickly feel at home. There are plenty of opportunities to make new friends through activities including informal playgroups, a monthly book club, volunteering opportunities, ladies nights out, Gourmet and Winetasters groups for couples, and the annual Newcomers Fall Party for couples which will be held September 29th at the Darien Historical Society.
“When I moved to town, everyone told me to join the YWCA Newcomers Club and that’s how I made my best friends here,” said the incoming YWCA Newcomers Club President Carlyle Upson.
