Letter: Important for C-MED to verify Darien EMS data

Editor’s note: The following letter was sent to Jeff Merwin, director of the Southwestern Regional Communications Center Inc., c/o Bridgeport Hospital. It is reprinted here at the writer’s request.

Dear Mr. Merwin:

The Darien Emergency Medical Services Review Committee reported to the Darien Board of Selectmen on April 23. In its report, the committee detailed response times and referred to C-MED. I assume you have read this report.

In a letter to the Darien Times on May 17, I outlined what I consider to be serious questions with regard to the committee’s data. Simply put, I do not see how the committee’s data can be correct. If the data are incorrect, this can be due to ineptitude or deliberate misstatement.

I believe that since C-MED is mentioned prominently in the committee’s report, it is important that C-MED verify the accuracy of the data presented by the committee and answer my objections to the data and the conclusions reached by the Committee. The accuracy of these data is a matter of life and death to Darien residents.
