The truck that got stuck at the MTA underpass on Monday afternoon, June 17, appeared to be carrying produce south on Post Road.

UPDATE 6:13 p.m. — Darien Police Chief Duane Lovello told The Darien Times it will take several hours to remove the truck stuck under the underpass on the Post Road. Lovello said the state is sending crews to barricade Darien’s Exit 11 going south and Exit 12 going north on I95 to alleviate exiting additional traffic while the truck is removed.

Monday 5:50 p.m — Only a month after the last incident, a truck struck the underpass at Post and Tokeneke Roads during the afternoon rush hour.

At about 4 p.m. on Monday, June 17, police reported that the truck heading south was jammed and blocked off traffic in the area. Drivers were diverted toward Tokeneke Road. A tow-truck operator initially on the scene said that the trailer was too large for him to tow.

Residents received automated-calls asking them to avoid this area.

The incident was not cleared at 5:45 p.m. It is unclear when the truck will be removed and regular traffic resumed.

This happens fairly often and is one of the highlights of the Darien experience.
