A Brookside Road man paid more than $8,000 to a Russian man for a pair of high-tech computer glasses but was instead sent a financial advice book written in Russian.

Darien Police said the main found a pair of Google Glass computer glasses on eBay in March. Google Glass was developed as a wearable computer that enables the user to access the Internet at anytime with voice commands. It was available through a limited edition program for $1,500, and a less expensive version is expected to hit the market by the end of this year, according to reports.

The Darien man agreed to pay a Russian eBay user called Vasiliy Timkin, with a Moscow address, $8,312 for the computer glasses, police said. The man got a package, allegedly from Timkin, with no glasses, but a Russian financial advice book instead. He contacted both eBay and Paypal and was told to file a police report, police said.
