The Andy Smiles Forever Foundation will host its second annual fundraiser on Sunday, April 28 at Middlesex Middle School. Guests will have a chance to participate in a Zumba masterclass with instructors Eddie and Jeimy, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $20, and will be available at Post 53, Flair Fitness Studio in Darien, Eddie’s classes at 35 Crescent Street in Stamford, and at registration.
The event will have something for everyone in the family. In addition to Zumba, there will be AED training, a raffle for a high-end Ultrabook, and other prizes, silent auction and the launch of the Andy Smiles Forever store.
The Andy Smiles Forever Foundation was established by his family to honor Andy Peña, a DHS freshman who passed on March 25, 2011 at the age of 14 from sudden cardiac arrest, or SCA, caused by myocarditis. The Foundation is committed to help save lives by raising awareness on the causes and prevention of SCA in children and young adults, including myocarditis; supporting CPR/AED training; placing AEDs in schools and public places; and encouraging and facilitating heart screenings in youth.
The event is open to both adults and kids. Donation checks can be made to “The Andy Smiles Forever Foundation”, 8 Alpine Lane, Darien CT, 06820.
