Nielsen’s Florist will host its third St. Patrick’s Day celebration to honor the Darien Land Trust on Thursday, March 14 beginning at 5 p.m.
After a huge success during the past two years, Nielsen’s is looking forward to another fun-filled night of traditional Irish fare, music, step dancers, shamrocks and raffle prizes, the company said. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy a Guinness or two and keep listen for the raffle prize winners.
This year, Leary’s Liquor Cabinet is donating the libations. All raffle prizes will have a green theme this year, including a year of green plants, a green birdhouse and other green goodies, the company said. Throughout the day, 20% of sales will go toward the Darien Land Trust, a non-profit dedicated to keeping the green spaces in Darien. Tickets for the event will be $20, available at the door by cash or check.
St. Patrick’s Day and its traditional green theme, paired with the Darien Land Trust’s mission to preserve green spaces, are complemented against the backdrop of the Nielsen’s Florist conservatory.
Charlotte Peter, president of the Darien High School Eco-Citizens club, will be presenting attendees with alternate ways to dispose of those unnecessary old phones and pieces of technology that pile up. Visitors are asked to bring old MP3 players or phones and let the club dispose of it properly.
