Accolades — Darien students receive fall honors

The following Darien students from Colgate University were recipients of the Dean’s Award for academic excellence during the 2012 fall term at Colgate University.

To be eligible for the Dean’s Award, a Colgate student must achieve a minumum 3.30 average while enrolled in at least four courses.

Kristin Carey, Megan Gilbert, Megan Keane, Robert Hendrickson, William Schreyer, Katherine Grozier, Caroline Burke , Alexander Brown, Cindy Gaete, Caroline Boulton, Thomas Seiler, Jennifer Large, Jessica Gunzel, and Charlotte Myers.

 

Timothy K. Carpenter, Jr., of Darien, has been selected for inclusion on the Dean’s List for academic achievement during the fall 2012 semester at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. To be eligible for the Dean’s List at St. Lawrence University, a student must have completed at least four semester units and have an academic average of 3.6 (based on a perfect 4.0 scale) for the semester.

 

Western Connecticut State University has named Darien’s Saskia Hamburger, Pre-Elementary Education to the Dean’s List for fall 2012.

 

The University of Connecticut recently announced the students who attained the Dean’s List for the fall 2012 semester. To make the Dean’s List, students must be taking at least 12 credits, finish the semester with a grade point average that is among the top 25 percent of students enrolled in their school or college, and have no grade below a “C.”

Bucknell University has released the dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2012-13 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognition. Those students from Darien who met this standard are:

Grayson G. Horan, son of Peter and Elizabeth Horan, and a 2012 graduate of Darien High School.

Emily O. Hough, daughter of Gordon and Holly Hough, and a 2010 graduate of Darien High School.

Olivia B. Malvisi, daughter of John and Patrice Malvisi, and a 2011 graduate of Darien High School.

Molly B. Marren, daughter of David and Caroline Marren, and a 2011 graduate of Darien High School.

Kristen C. Perry, daughter of Matthew and Karen Perry, and a 2009 graduate of Darien High School.

Elizabeth S. Riegel, daughter of Guy and Harriet Riegel, and a 2011 graduate of Darien High School.

 

Local students named to Hamilton College Dean’s List

The following local students have been named to the Dean’s List at Hamilton College for the 2012 fall semester:

Sarah E. Graves, daughter of Charles and Melissa Howe Graves of Darien. Graves, a first-year student, is a graduate of Darien High School.

Hannah M. Lyons, daughter of Robert Lyons of Darien and Peggy Lyons-Bradley of Rowayton. Lyons, a junior majoring in biology, is a graduate of Darien High School.

Victoria P. Mao, daughter of Elizabeth Smith Mao and Kwan-Lan Mao of Darien. Mao, a first-year student, is a graduate of Greens Farms Academy.

To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must have carried throughout the semester a course load of four or more graded credits with an average of 3.5 or above.

 

Alexandra Hamill and Julia Lang of Darien, Washington and Lee students, have earned dean’s list status for the recently ended Fall 2012 term.

 

The Harvey School in Katonah, N.Y. has announced its academic honors for the end of the first marking period of the winter term. Sophomore Daly Naughton has earned a Cavalier Scholar Certificate and junior Audrey Row has earned a place on the school’s honor roll.
