The First Congregational Church of Darien will open its doors to the 46th Annual Darien Antiques Show on Friday evening, March 1, with an elegant preview party, featuring a silent auction, live jazz, hors d’oeuvres, and fine wines. Proceeds from the party primarily will benefit Inspirica, of Stamford.
Inspirica, which used to be known as St. Luke’s Lifeworks, offers emergency, transitional, and permanent supportive housing to those in need, as well as access to trained life planning coaches and mentors who help clients create a life plan, work with them to achieve their goals, connect them to community resources, and advocate on their behalf.
The challenge of soaring poverty and homelessness is daunting, but this organization is truly making a difference: 87% of job placements garner salaries above minimum wage, 65% above $9 an hour, and 28% at $11 an hour or more.
Other local charitable organizations benefiting from the show include ABC House, Person-to-Person, the Open Door Shelter, Elderhouse, New Covenant House, Center for Hope, Domestic Violence Crisis Center, Feed My Starving Children, Liberation Programs Inc., Pilgrim Towers, George Washington Carver Center, YWCA Job Search Support, STAR, Sexual Assault Crisis and Education, Child Guidance Center, Shelter for the Homeless, and Aging in Place. This is in keeping with the church’s ongoing commitment to support those in need in the surrounding community.
Sponsors of this year’s show include William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty (Platinum Sponsor), Darien Rowayton Bank (Gold Sponsor), and Connecticut Cottages & Gardens (Media Sponsor).
The preview party is March 1, 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $50 at the door and include entrance to the show over the weekend. The show runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm. Show tickets are $10 at the door; $8 for seniors and ad/discount card holders.
The church is located at the corner of Brookside Road and the Post Road, just south of exit 13 off I-95.
