Car hits pole, possible outages in immediate area

UPDATE 6:45 p.m.: CL&P is reporting one person without power in Darien. It’s unclear whether this outage was caused by the earlier accident.

ORIGINAL REPORT:

An Acura hit a Connecticut Light & Power pole on Monday evening, Jan. 28 near 22 Old Farm Road.

Police said that the driver of the car was feeling dizzy before the accident occurred. The area between Old Farm Road and Five Mile River Road was closed off. The driver was taken to Stamford Hospital, though no life-threatening injuries were reported.

It is also possible that the damaged pole resulted in power outages to houses in the immediate area, police reported. One customer was without power in Darien as of 6 p.m., according to the Connecticut Light & Power outage map.
