Warren James Kelley of Newtown, a former New Canaan resident who served as the town tree warden for many years, died Friday, Jan. 25. Kelley, 86, was the husband of Phyllis Kelley.
Kelley was the longtime owner of Kelley Nurseries in Darien. Along with serving as tree warden in New Canaan, he was on the board of Lake View Cemetery in town. He was also a long-time parishioner of St. Aloysius Church.
Kelley graduated from New Canaan High School in 1944 and Duke University in 1948.
Besides his wife, Kelley is survived by his children, James Kelley, Nancy Flachsbart and Jill Cover; brother, Raymond Kelley; sister, Patricia Page; and seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at St. Aloysius Church, New Canaan, at noon on Monday, Jan. 28, followed by a burial at Lake View Cemetery.
