Wave wins sixth in FCIAC allowing single shot-on-goal

GIRLS WAVE HOCKEY

Darien blew past Stamford High 9-0 on Jan. 18 with two goals each from Marissa Baker, Ellie Bennett and Georgia Cassidy and Katie Zaro with four assists, at Darien Ice Rink.

Izzy Scribano had the shutout stopping one shot in the one-sided match.

Darien scored three goals in the first period, four in the second and two in the third.

The Wave climbs to 8-2-1 overall, 6-1 FCIAC where it is in second.

Cassidy had the early winner from Marissa Baker and Zaro in the first period and Bennett assisted by Zaro, Sage Thacher assisted from Zaro made it 3-0 at the end of one.

In the second period Schuyler van den Broek with assists from Rebecca Schaffer and Christy Conley and then Cassidy again, from Zaro, and Baker with assists from Julia Arrix and Cassidy and Baker once more unassisted closed out the second for a 7-0 lead.

Lily Christensen and Bennett both unassisted scored in the third.

Casey Bang was in goal for Stamford making 36 saves.
