Amy E. Klopfer Terao, age 43, of Powell, OH, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Kobacker House in Columbus, OH. A native of Rowayton, CT, she was a graduate of Brien McMahon High School, Class of 1987 and received her B.A. from Salve Regina College of Newport, RI and her Masters, Education degree from Southern Connecticut University. She traveled to Japan to be an English teacher at Sakuranbo Kindergarten and Kaisei Junior
High School in Utsunomiya, Japan.
Later, Amy would join the Worthington Hills Garden Club and serve as its vice-president. An enthusiastic world traveler, Amy possessed a great love of gardening, reading, cycling and spending time with her family and friends. She was known for giving “sunshine” and happiness to all.
Amy is survived by her devoted husband Akira Terao, of Powell; parents Louis and June Klopfer, of Rowayton, CT; brother Michael (Margaret) Klopfer, her nieces Anya June, Charlotte and nephew Mikey J, of Arroyo Grande, CA; parents-in-law Tomiji and Makoto Terao, of Aichi, Japan; and a world-wide range of friends.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at the Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 West Olentangy St., Powell, OH 43065 (614)-792-1471 where a Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. with Reverend Patricia Stout, officiating. (The funeral home is located on W. Olentangy St./Powell Rd./SR 750 1Ž4 mile east of Sawmill Parkway.)
